I've been mulling over doing an MMA blog for a number of years now, probably about 10-12 years. It was right about the time I realized I know way too much about "NHB" fighting and started growing bored of Bas's open hand beatdowns. (Mind you I always enjoyed his jumping victory splits:)
I haven't missed a single UFC, Pride, KOTC, TKO, or UCC. Needless to say nowadays I'm not missing any Strikeforce, Bellator, Maximum Fighting Championships, any other smaller show I can get my eyes on, and of course every UFC event, presser and/or interview.....it’s never going to end, the sport is here to stay, and so am I.
Periodically, you're going to get my best thoughts on recent events - big fights, small fights, fight that matter, and fights that weren't supposed to matter but ended up being something we didn't expect - a gamechanger, a jaw dropper, the launch of some fighter's title run, the u-turn in fight career, or the beginning of the end, or another beginning. Royce & Kimo, One boxing glove, The giant killer, Tank, Oleg beating Tank, Jason DeLucia, Old Sergio Batarelli Vale Tudo fights, The Gracie home videos, The Gracie beach street fight, young Vitor, Tito flippin the bird when he was a bad-ass (let's face it he belongs in the H-O-F), Chuck losing to Jeremy Horn and never looking back, Pride, Rickson vs Takada, Saku, the smashing machine, the king of the streets, the Hammer, Wandy, Big Nog's triangle, Hendo's right hand, BJ running away after KOing Caol Uno, BJ taking Hughes, BJ vs Machida, Chuck vs Tito, Randy whoopin Chuck, Tito & Vitor....fast forward....The Ultimate Final: Forrest and Stefan, The new fans, Randy dropping Timmy, Rampage dropping Chuck, the new breed of fighter, Cain, GSP, Anderson, what will come of Bones Jones…… and it goes on and on and on. (I’ve left so much out, RIP Evan Tanner the world misses you)
The sport has evolved so much over the past 18-20 years....the fighters are so different, the media has changed, Sherdog went from irritating Dana to being an ESPN affiliate, it’s madness.
My MMA blog - over a decade in the making, and it might not even end up being much at all – but hey, sometimes fights that weren't supposed to matter end up being the most important ones.
